Fatmir JUKA is part of the new generation of contemporary Albanian artists. After completing his higher studies in history in Shkodër and painting in Tirana, he showed another ability in the role of curator of several exhibitions of different artists in Albania and Kosovo; co-curator and museum interior designer, as well as co-founder of various magazines dedicated to history and art.
He is the author of seven solo exhibitions and marks a rich participation in joint exhibitions inside and outside Albania: the Cetinje Biennale in Maline Zi, the Carrara Academy in Bergamo, etc. His works are part of various private collections in the USA, Belgium, Britain, etc...
He is a member of the artistic group “November”. The artist Juka is a multifaceted figure, where apart from painting, video and installation remain expressive means to communicate his attitude towards the various phenomena of the Albanian space and his city of Shkodra. Recently, he was awarded consecutively with two awards as a trailblazing artist of contemporary art, which clearly marked his artistic journey.
In addition to creativity and artistic activity, Fatmir Juka worked as a culture specialist in Shkodra Municipality, specialist and then director of the Historical Museum of Shkodra. Since 2018, he holds the position of director of the Shkodra Art Gallery and at the same time an external lecturer for the courses of cultural heritage and art history at the University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi”.
Inspired by folk clothing, especially the jubleta, the artist Juka made it the motif of his art, creating 50 paintings entitled: “Entropical Jubleta”.
