Angel’s EmbraceBronze, 38 x 40 x 85 cm, 2023
The conceptual approach:
Lai Junjie's latest sculpture, "Angel's Embrace," presents a thought-provoking scene: a winged female angel tightly embracing a Mr. Rosak from behind, while Mr. Rosak is focused on his left hand. This scene not only evokes emotions, but also inspires deep philosophical and sociological reflections. In terms of artistic form, Lai Junjie has experimented with different creative methods and languages such as: conceptual art, performance and installation. He chose the classical language for the realization of this sculpture. This choice stems from his consideration of the universality and accessibility of artworks. He hopes that his works can transcend cultural and temporal boundaries, to engage in deep dialogue and communication with the audience. In this work of art there is a strong contrast between the female angel and Mr. Rosak. The angel's compassionate expression is in stark contrast to Mr. Rosak's somewhat rigid stance, creating not only a dramatic effect, but also reflecting the trend of homogenization in modern society. The angel symbolizes purity and compassion, while Mr. Rosak represents contemporary society, perhaps influenced by the trend of homogenization caused by the proliferation of ubiquitous information on the Internet.
